Welcome! Phoxhaven Corgis |
Gordie, 1978
We are a small hobby show kennel in the northern part of Mississippi, near Memphis, Tennessee. I received my first corgi in 1978 and co-owned him with Evelyn Bock DVM. "Gordie" introduced us to the world of showing and tracking corgis and a lifelong love of the 'all things considered corgi'. Dr Bock also had the very first Obedience Trial Champion male corgi OTCH Garvins Grandmaster Freddie UDT, "Freddie", and she enjoys a very successful veterinary practice in St. Louis, Missouri. We obtained our first five corgis over the years from Gayle Garvin of Centertown, Missouri. Today, with my husband Pete, we have continued showing and breeding corgis, but mostly enjoying our fur-friends as part of the family as that is what we are about. Phoxhaven as a kennel is purely a misnomer as all of our dogs live in the house and as family members. The friends we have made in this sport are lifelong friends and we continue to welcome new friends that we meet each day. The folks whom we have entrusted our pups with have become truly like family to us and we treasure these relationships. I would like to invite those that have a Phoxhaven corgi to send pictures and funny tidbits of their life with them so that we can include them on their page. If you are interested in a Phoxhaven corgi, please be aware that we do screen all potential homes closely, not to be invasive or judgmental, but to correctly place a special individual in the right environment and family, and that our first concern is with the health and happiness for our corgis. Since we breed only for the next show dog generation, there are occasional individuals available. All corgis here are of the very best quality and bloodlines available with nothing spared on testing and on our breeding practices to insure the soundest in health, temperament, structure and sociable Pembroke Welsh Corgis. That is only half the bargain - new owners are expected to realize that corgis are rather strong minded and would like to 'run the show' so to speak, and a firm but gentle hand with guided training from the 'get-go' is a must. And realizing that daily vacuuming is needed because of the abundance of shedding almost year round, a tendency to love to bark and boss and need for daily involvement in activities are also necessary in this busy herding/working breed. Enjoy the website and do come back to visit! Jill Brown - Waterford, Mississippi USA Member Gaitway PWCC and Southeast PWCC
